I call shenanigans!
lol
the "electric arc" in the wings of the cherubs is a gas flame, you can see the nozzles. the cherubs were made of plaster and broke because they fell on the floor... not because of an explosion.
so not only was there no point in their "experiment", but they also managed to goof up the fake results

it was pretty funny tho :)
