John Rabe, a German businessman in China, is using his membership with the Nazi party to construct a safety zone in Nanking. After the Imperial Japanese Army wins the Battle of Nanking in 1937, this safety zone saves the lives of over 200,000 Chinese people from a massacre committed by the Japanese. The movie is a true story based upon Rabe's wartime diaries.
